A personal crusade for the loss of a brother + mate
Post from Wade
I lost my brother Jared in 2007 - he took his life after losing his own personal battle with years of depression.
With this tragic event, I needed to make sure that other people suffering with depression are made aware of the services that exist to assist people during times of struggle so that they are not lost to us forever.
With that in mind, myself and some mates saw the opportunity to create a series of musical events with bands relevant to young people that would provide the conduit for conveying an accurate, informative and meaningful message about depression, youth suicide and related issues.
To ensure the message was effective we approached Reach Out and to help with the organisation of the event our friends at Destroy All Lines came on board.
Around this time Destroy All Lines were also approached by the good people at Sub City about doing the Take Action Tour in Australia. The Take Action tour had been doing great things promoting the same important messages in the USA for a number of years and was a trusted well known brand.
So discussions began and from small beginnings the Take Action Australia Tour was born.

Reply ReportHi, I'm sorry to hear about your loss I lost someone very close to me to suicide going on 4 years ago. What shocks me is once someone in a family thinks its ok to commit suicide the whole family starts to think that its ok when there life gets hard. They seem to think that because that one person didnt reach out and ask for help that they shouldnt either (in my case anyway. I apologize if its not the same for others). But what surprises me most of all is the lack of information and contacts easily accessible for people thinking of suicide and those trying to help there friends by tracking this information down. The fact that you have gone out there after you family tragedy and thought not of yourself but everyone in need of help is truly touching. I hope that someday I can share my story and help people the way you have

Reply ReportI actually have the Take Action Compilation CD, and I love it to bits. Thankyou so much for sharing your story Wade. I suggest for anyone who has not had the chance to head to the Take Action Tour, to go to your nearest CD retailer and purchase the compilation. As Wade said, the main idea was to get the message across about depression, suicide and the help available.
