CREATIVITY (yeah).
Creativity and mental illness – how do you express yourself?
In light of our recent Community Challenge (see here for more info) we want to talk about what gets your creative juices flowing.
Many amazing artists (such as Vincent Van Gough, Charles Dickens, Kurt Cobain, Macy Gray, Spike Milligan, Sinead O’Conner, Anne Hathaway, J.K Rowling, Beyonce…… gosh, the list goes on!) have suffered from mental health issues, and many attribute their amazing works to the fact that they’ve survived such dark times (and vice versa!).
“Thinking outside the box might be facilitated by having a somewhat less intact box." (Fredrik Ullén – Mental Health Researcher)
Monday April 18 at 8PM AEST - let’s talk about how you get creative, how this is influenced by tough times, and how putting some paint to paper (or musical notes to, erm, your musical instrument) can help you battle the blues. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Reply ReportI have been taught to play guitar, as I went to seek out a to play a instrument in my darkest years, but now I play ever so often. As I buggered my 4th pinky [finger] on my chord changing hand. [drat!
I have learnt sing a good range of songs as I used be busker and busk around my suburb. Now most singers and player got amplification, to busk with vocal and play is no competition to them,as the drown you out with their amps !
Asthma knocked away my vocal range, but I am slowly getting it back again, take quite awhile. But I can still play and sing, but not as fast as I used to.
