Post-poning self-harming Toolbox
Hey everyone,
When we are feeling sad & lonely & thinking suicide thoughts, I think it is important that you do speak with a doctor about what you are going through. You shouldn't have to go through it alone.
You can also call: Kids Helpline on 1800.55.1800 and Lifeline 13.11.14 or heading to eheadspace for a chat. They're all free services, excluding Lifeline.
Or, another thing is 'if sometimes you cannot get through to counsellors...is creating a 'Post-Poning Self-Harming Toolbox'.
So, basically, this is what's to be put in the toolbox? Something positive:
1. A journal: for you to write what you are feeling
2. A list of dvds: you'd wanna watch when feeling down.
3. Stress-ball to squeeze on when angry,
4. A card, with: 'hold an ice-cube instead' written on it.
5. A favourite book you like to read
6. Affirmation Cards (they always make
me feel better) :)
7. A positive 'things to do' list. or... anything positive you think 'will help you'.
That way, every time you are angry you can go to your 'Post-Poning Self Harming Toolbox' & look at the positive stuff you have in there.
Slowly, by slowly you'll forget about 'wanting to hurt yourself' & learning to overcoming it.
How it works:
Every time you get angry, you go to your 'post-poning self-harming toolbox' & pick out of that box, the things you want to do, rather than, you hurting yourself.
The toolbox cannot have [in it] anything sharp, because it's meant to be a positive distraction for your body & mind.
Or, even if you are alone. You can do so much things you like.
Watch the video for more inspiration. :)
