Procrastination + exams
Procrastination and studying go hand and hand for me when it comes to exams. I can never seem to get myself to sit down and focus when exam time comes around - and with distractions like Facebook it is easy to get side tracked! Preparing for exams takes determination and focus, something I and many others lack when it comes to studying. I have found some ways to help myself to sit down and focus!
We all know what causes us distraction, for me its Facebook and reality TV. When exam time comes around I make sure to try and minimise those distractions. The idea of deactivating your Facebook can be scary for some, but I promise you can easily get it back! Tell your friends that you are going to delete it the week before and they may even jump on board! After the first day you will realise how much time you have to do other things (like study). When you are done with your exams you can easily reactivate it. I also find that getting out of my apartment is the best way for me to focus. Find a local coffee shop or library that is quiet and has comfy chairs. A quiet and peaceful atmosphere is a great place to relax and get your study on.
Having the support of your friends and family during exams can help you to be successful in your studying. I find that getting a study group together at my local coffee shop helps to keep me focused and supported. During exam time I have my mom check in with me and quiz me on what I have learned. Making a calendar of what you are going to study on each day going up to your exam has also been helpful for me. Get others to keep you focused; in return you can help them when they have a deadline!
Exam time can be stressful and overwhelming, but by putting a few strategies in place you can make it easier to stay focused and avoid stress. It’s important to take care of yourself so that you can successfully perform on the exams.
What do you do to help you focus on studying? Where is your favourite place to study?
