Research study: Young people’s ideas about making online forums safe + positive

Rebecca Mollica, a student at the Australian College of Applied Psychology, in partnership with the Inspire Foundation, is conducting research about young people’s ideas about how online forums can positively impact and do no harm to young people, by investigating the ROtreat forums, a service provided by the Inspire Foundation.

If you choose to be involved, your participation will have two parts:

You will complete an online questionnaire, which will take about 10 minutes to complete. The survey will ask you questions about yourself (e.g., your age, gender) and questions about how you think and feel.
You will complete an online focus group that will last 1.5 to 2 hours. During the focus group you will be asked to comment on how online forums, like the ROtreat, can best help and make sure they don’t do any harm to the young people who use them.

By participating, you will be helping us and other organisations ensure that online forums are safe and helpful for young people who use them.

Please keep in mind, that if you complete the Online Questionnaire, you will need to participate in the Online Focus Group, which will be held on the ROtreat forums on Thursday 16th July, 2009 at 7pm AEST.
