I know this is an absolutely useless feature that won't actually help anyone, but how about having something that can tell us the number of posts we've had?

Reply ReportActually, on second thought, that might be a really bad idea; because I can just see a lot of competition to get really high post counts by posting stuff that's completely off-topic. And there'd probably be a few "[Person X] is at 10,000 Posts" topics.

Reply ReportHi Trekkie,
Thanks for being so creative and enthusiastic about the site. :)
All ideas hove thier pros and cons but what we need to do is, as a community discuss all of these ideas to see which ones best suit RO.
Just for clarification did you think keeping track of the number of posts would be good because it would encorage people to post more or was there some other reason for this idea.
I can also see your point regarding people getting too competitive and the danger of ending up with loads of off topic posts.
What does everyone else think, is this something you would like to see on the site ?
Keep the ideas and feedback comming guys :)

Reply ReportI don't personally mind how many times one has posted. Some of us have been on here longer than others. And as said, off topic posts may be a result.

Reply ReportWell, off-topic posts and spamming are my two major concerns with my own idea because back when I used to use the startrek.com forums a lot, there seemed to be a lot of people who went to great lengths to get a high post count.
For example, there was this one person who had stayed on for twelve hours just to increase his count by 100 posts. The only reason he logged off was because he got tired at 5.30 in the morning.
I did intend for the idea to be encouragement for people to post more, but when I remembered that, I was like, "Well, um...maybe not."

Reply ReportIt's awesome you guys are brainstorming up idea's about how to encorage members to be more engaged with Reach Out :)
Not all ideas are going to work out but if we don't post and discuss them then we will never know.
Thanks for your awesome input guys :)
Has anyone got any other suggestions ?

Reply Reportumm the main argument i see for this , is that having a post cap is also very cool too see how many posts u have posted (i think im well over a thousand) but also shows people that have been on the site for a long time and people who know how reach out works but its up to u guys

Reply ReportHey all,
I think its a good idea but at the same not a good idea,I think it maybe made into a comp or make people who havent posted alot feel bad,Maybe have it so only the member its self can see it noone else.
Also why keep tabs....

Reply ReportHaha, actually I remember this from the old forums. When there was a post count. I personally don't think it would be a good idea to keep tabs on the posts cuz I found I got very competitive with hello_future. lol. I'd have to have a higher post count, then also have to leave it even at the end of the night.. While this is just me, n I don't have these issues anymore, I can see that some people might do. But yes I think it's a very interesting topic.

Reply Reporthey all.
i went on the old forums a few times. i personally felt odd that i was new and felt like intruding on other people's place even though i know no one owns it. i guess it is intimidating to see that someone has had 1000 posts.
i agree with chey that if you guys want it then only i believe only the member should be able to see how many posts they have made.
