Hey hey!

I'm back! Another InfoBus will be running this Wednesday night - the 3rd of Feb - at 6pm AEDST.

Last week we looked at relationships with friends and spoke about the good stuff, some common issues that may arise with friends and some strategies on how to help you cope with these issues.

This week we'll be looking at families and the fantastic things about being part of a family :) We will also some common issue that come from being part of a family....these may include...

- being part of a different family from the family unit that is considered 'normal'. There are all different kinds of great family units families out there! :)

- problems communicating with parents

- wanting to leave home

- feeling unheard or not respected

So, please join us on Wednesday night at 6pm where we can discuss these issues and swap strategies :)

hello young ones!!! :)

Welcome to tonight's session :)

Tonight's topic is families...and the relationships and dynamics that exist between family members.

Unlike friends, we don't get the opp to choose our family members (although some people feel we do) and so since choice has been taken out of the equation it creates a different set of issues and also strengths.

What are the great things about being part of a family?

What are soem problems that can arise?

@Char - Being apart of a family can be great for, umm, having people that can care for you...
But being apart of a family can also be problematic as arguments often arise and it's harder when you are living with these people (if it's with parents and if you are living with them), unlike with friends.

Great things about families - Hm - they are there for you when they need you and at times there for you when you need them. They gave us TLC at times.

Issues: Almost everything happen. Differences in culture, differences in opinion. Sometimes, our parents want us all to themselves and we have to burden.

@McLeod - so you mean if fighting with friends you can have some physical space...but if you are having issues with parents/family...it's harder to have physical space?

@Chey - I always hear this from my older sister: Every family has their problem. Every family argue to get their message across. Every family has their differences, but it's about communicating effectively to them and this is something I am slowly working on with them.

@Char - Yeah, you can have space with friends, but with family you can't... unless you were to run away. But then you could stay at a mate's place if that was possible. Either way they are harder to "avoid" if that makes sense...!
