About the Forum

The Reachout.com forums are a safe space where young people are encouraged to connect with other young people who have been through similar issues and talk about these issues in a positive productive way.

Guidelines


If you break these guidelines your post will be deleted and your account may be suspended.

• Be yourself. Sharing ideas and discussing issues is an important part of being a ReachOut.com community member, do say who you are and most importantly, don’t impersonate someone else.

• Respect what others think and believe.

• When you post, try and make sure what you have said is clear. If you are think that someone has written something offensive, it may be useful to check what they meant in case you have misinterpreted.

• Do not post specific details of self-harming behavior that could be upsetting or triggering for other members. Please use general terms such as ‘self-harm’ and ‘eating disorder’. If you have any questions about this please contact the crew@reachout.com.au

• Do not post any medical or legal advice, including recommendations that people change or stop their medications. Doing so is against the law.

• Don’t encourage anyone to break the law.


• We encourage everyone to check out Reach Out, but in the interests of child protection, people under the age of 14 aren’t allowed to become members.


• Don’t post identifying information about yourself or anyone else. This includes email address, Facebook, MySpace or other online social network name, mobile phone number, your place of work/school etc.

• Do not use your full name (first names and nick names are ok though) or put up an identifying profile picture.


• Don’t bag people out, or post anything that that could damage the reputation or an individual or organisation.


• Please refrain from using these forums for commercial or advertising purposes.


• Respect copyright. Don’t upload anything that isn’t yours or that you don’t have permission to use (this includes images, music, videos)

• Don’t post content which is harassing threatening, abusive, offensive, obscene or indecent


• Give credit when you’ve used someone’s ideas or words.

• No recruiting for external surveys or assignments without prior approval. If you have any questions about this please contact info@reachout.com. There may be times when we offer the opportunity for you to be involved in a RO.com survey/study – but it will be optional as to whether you participate.

• Think a member has broken the rules? Go to the ‘Report’ button next to each comment and let us know.
