My call for help

talk_button

I started self-harming at the beginning of this year when I was 13. After I turned 14 I had still been harming, having suicidal thoughts and also having symptoms of Anorexia Nervosa.

I realised that I needed to get help and that doing so would help me grow as a person and make me happier so that is exactly what I did.

I went straight to my school counsellor and on our first meeting with each other, I told her absolutely everything I could get out of my system, she called my parents and brought them in and we talked it through.

I have never had a weight lifted off my shoulders like this one before, in only a matter of hours, I feel so happy and free. I feel alive again and bottling it up wasn't the right thing to do. Telling someone was the best decision I EVER made.

It is worth it and if you need the help, get it ASAP. I feel free and happy and relaxed now and it is great to talk to someone who can help.

We can all help one more person in this world and it will make a difference. Even if you KNOW anyone who struggles like this, I believe it’s important to talk to them about it and tell them that it is worth talking to someone, because in the long run, keeping it hidden just makes it hurt more and makes the problems bigger.

Self-harming is a temporary reliever for pain, but leaves permanent scars and mine aren't pretty. I look at my body today and ask myself why I did such a thing. It's a constant reminder of my journey. It reminds me to tell someone which makes me feel strong as a person.

These days, I regret every mark. Seeking help from my school counsellor was the best thing I ever did, and it did more to help me get through my problems than self harming ever did.

Good luck everyone, please just ask for help.
