Group therapy
What is group therapy?
Group therapy is when a number of individuals with a common problem or issue meet together to discuss and work through their issues.
Some people find this helpful as they meet other people with similar issues or concerns. The groups are lead by a trained group leader. The groups can also help people to develop better social skills and get over difficulties they have been having with other relationships.
How do I find a group to join?
If you want to participate in group therapy you will need to find out if there are any groups being held in your area.
Look up 'Community Health Services' in the White Pages or the Lifeline service finder to find out what groups are being run.
There are agencies that run groups for people who are survivors of sexual abuse or assault, those who have an alcohol or other drug problems or other problems like eating disorders.
