Kids Helpline

Phone 1800 55 1800

This is a free call from anywhere in Australia (except if you call from a mobile phone!).

Web counselling

Available 3pm to 9pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm Saturday (Queensland time) from the Kids Helpline website.

Email counselling

Sometimes an email response can take up to two weeks. To find out more about email counselling check out the Kids Helpline website. If you need to talk to a counsellor straight away please ring us on 1800 55 1800.

The email and web counselling services are provided by Kids Helpline to give you an opportunity to try out counselling in a way that might feel most comfortable.

Please remember that if your issue is an urgent one the telephone is still the fastest way of getting to a counsellor.

Kids Helpline

All young Australians 25 years old and under can use Kids Helpline

Their telephone counsellors will talk to you about any issue, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You can talk to the same counsellor

If you have called before and liked the person you spoke to, you can ask for the same counsellor.

What happens if Kids Helpline is busy?

If all their counsellors are busy, you can wait until one of them is able to talk to you. It is worth waiting on because it usually doesn't take too long to get through.

There are other people to talk to

Call Lifeline on 131 114 which is the cost of a local call from a landline (more from a mobile phone). As well as listening to you, they can often give you a list of people to talk with in your area. You can also read about other services on this site and look them up in your local phone book or check out this link for a directory.
