Youth workers
Youth workers can help
Many areas have a local youth centre or a refuge. These youth centres provide free services ranging from sporting to social activities, job skills, counselling and other activities. Refuges provide these things too but they also provide accommodation.
Youth workers are especially trained to help young people, they know the kinds of things young people go through and are easy to talk to. They can help you out with a problem or give you information about a range of topics - even ones that you may feel embarrassed about. They are connected to a bunch of local services and can help connect you to the right people if you need help. You can even just hang out with youth workers and do some fun activties with them - like art, music, film and outings.
Contact your local council or look in the phone book under 'Community Services' to see if you have a youth centre in your area.
There are other people to talk to
Lifeline (131 114) or Kids Helpline (1800 55 1800) should be able to help you with some numbers for youth centres/refuges in your local area.
You can also read about other services on this site that you may find helpful.
