Some days life can be tough and things can really get you down. If you feel like you're barely making it through each day - Hold on, there is help. The one step you need to take is to let someone know how you're feeling. It can be really tough to do, but step away from your fear or shame or the thoughts telling you nothing will help, and talk to someone you know, or can trust. There are lots of different ways of talking and there are professionals who are there for you. When you're really hurting, it can be tempting to turn to alcohol or drugs, thinking it will help block out the pain, but it can often make things worse. Instead, try writing down how you’re feeling. It can help you feel lighter, and make it easier to share your feelings with someone that can help. But if you're really struggling, remember that suicidal thoughts are only thoughts. Postpone any decision to end your life for 24 hours and find someone to talk to. GPs and counsellors are trained to deal with any type of problem, from anyone and you don’t even need to leave your house to access the support that you need. With help you’ll learn how to cope and feel less alone and less upset. And when you’re feeling better, keep talking to your friends and family about how you’re going, whether good, or bad and always know that you can reach out for help.
