ReachOut CEO Jono Nicholas has been nominated for Pro Bono Australia’s Impact 25 Award, which recognises the most influential people in the Australian social sector. You can show your support for the work Jono and ReachOut have done this year by voting here.
Under Jono’s leadership, ReachOut has been changing the way people access help since we launched the world’s first online mental health service in 1998.
With massive unmet need for mental health support among young people – 70 per cent of young Australians who need help don’t get it – ReachOut provides a service that can meet unlimited demand, is low-cost and is available any time.
We use digital factsheets, apps, games, videos peer networks and social media to deliver support to young people wherever they are, in the settings where they are most comfortable.
Under Jono’s leadership, ReachOut has achieved some big things in the past year:
Jono has overseen ReachOut expand its service to provide support to parents of teenagers through ReachOut.com/Parents – recognising the vital role parents play in their kids’ mental health.
Jono has been making the case for digital mental health self-help, releasing this report in conjunction with EY which builds on the evidence base for digital services and proves that ReachOut is having a significant impact on the mental health of young people who access our service.
ReachOut continued its campaign around exam stress called ‘There’s life after year 12,’ in recognition that this is a key stressor for young people, which resulted in thousands of young people getting help through our exam stress
Vote for Jono and ReachOut to be recognised in the Impact 25 Awards here – voting closes on Thursday 1 December 2016.
