ReachOut has welcomed an announcement today by the Australian Government of a 3 year funding commitment under the Digital Mental Health Program.

CEO of ReachOut, Gary Groves, said that ongoing investment in youth mental health is critical at this time of crisis in the system.

“One million young people across Australia are not seeking support when it comes to their mental health. In too many cases we know that’s because it’s too difficult and too costly for them to do so. That’s where digital mental health services, like ReachOut, play a key role.

“For many young people, accessing ReachOut is their first step toward feeling better. The support ReachOut provides to young people is totally free and includes a range of services based on young people’s needs including trusted information, peer support, forums and pathways to further support.

“Today’s announcement allows us to plan our service provision over the next 3 years. We look forward to working with the Government to ensure that young people across Australia have access to the types of digital services and tools they need,” he said.
