When you’re in that place, it’s really difficult to get out of it. If you’re feeling like that, you should talk to someone.

Some of the ways Sazia uses to stay culturally connected and mentally well include:

  • Thinking, at the end of each day, of at least one good thing that happened that day. This creates a mindset of always looking for the positives in life, instead of focusing on the negatives.

  • Taking walks with her mum.

  • Talking to her family and friends.

  • Focusing on her uni work.

  • Connecting with the other Bangladeshi teenagers in her community, which gives her a sense of belonging.

  • Watching Bengali TV shows and movies.
